What are Unbundled Legal Services anyway?

Posted by Mara Spring | Nov 16, 2017 | 0 Comments

Sometimes we like to do things on our own. Sometimes we need a little help. Sometimes, we'd rather have someone else do it for us.

Take, for instance, a Thanksgiving feast.  You can buy your entire feast, ready-made, at many grocery stores. You can buy all the ingredients and put it all together yourself.  Or you can go with a potluck or having some of it done for you, while you still do parts.

So why would a law firm be talking about this? Because we offer "unbundled legal services."  Wait. What? What does that even mean?

We know that not everyone needs the same services. We understand that you may want to try it before you buy it. You may want to see if you can do it on your own (pro se) or you may want someone to explain the process before you set out on your own. Or maybe you need help with the disclosures, but you already filed for a divorce, so you are starting at Point B or C, not Point A.  Maybe you don't want to be in the courtroom alone, but are okay doing the paperwork on your own.

We can help with any of that. Of course, we offer full service, but we also let you pick what parts you need assistance with and pay only for those parts. Typically, we charge a flat rate for those unbundled services.  Then if you like what you see, you can choose to have us help with other parts of the process, you can try it on your own, or even find another attorney to help with the next step.

We want you to enjoy your Thanksgiving feast -- whoever makes it, however you piece it together. We'll be there to help you along the way!
